Saskatchewan - “The Morning” (The Weeknd Cover)
Yesterday Saskatchewan released their take on the Weeknd’s “The Morning”. I covered the Orlando dream pop’s cover of Wham!’s “Last Christmas” during the holiday season and am so excited to hear new material from them. The idea to cover the Weeknd spawned from a post on their Facebook wall asking fans which song they should cover next.
Saskatchewan takes off the hazy, mysterious covering that is a trademark of the Weeknd and replaced it was blissful dream pop elements. Starting off the song are trickling guitar lines that set up the song perfectly and reappear every verse. When the first chorus comes, you’re hit with a wall of beautifully harmonized vocals. To be completely honest, I was skeptical upon listening to this cover because it’s my favorite track from the Weekend but these guys did the original justice.
